This year's theme is "City Pop”
“City Pop” is Japanese music created in the late 1970s and 1980s, urban and sophisticated music of artists such as Eiichi Otaki, Tatsuro Yamashita, Taeko Onuki, Mariya Takeuchi, EPO, and Kiyotaka Sugiyama. The music has attracted a lot of attention and some of the songs have been covered overseas.
The illustrations by Watase Seizo, who is the author of “Heart Cocktail,” which was serialized in the 80s in the comic magazine “Morning” and a masterpiece of charisma popularity. “Heart Cocktail” has a strong affinity with “city pop” and was used in collaborative posters and record jackets, a taste that truly symbolizes the “city pop” generation. The visuals are fashionable and match the urban fireworks entertainment show "TOKYO CITY POP FIREWORKS".

HISTORY
July 2022: “THE ROLLING STONES 60th ANNIVERSARY THE GREATEST FIREWORKS ~Excitement! The Greatest Fireworks” was held at Tokyo Racecourse as the first large-scale fireworks event in Tokyo. 14,000 fireworks were launched with Stones' music.
July 2023: “Yuming 50th Anniversary - A Midsummer Night's Dream” was held at Tokyo Racecourse. This The lyrics of her signature song “Chuo Freeway” say "The horse racecourse on the right and the beer factory on the left," and the “horse racecourse” refers to the Tokyo Racecourse. It was a perfect situation for her celebration.
